SEXLESS IN THE CITY
After getting our hair did, Sakina sent me home first. Got dressed then a few hours later, Sakina arrived at my place. We touched up together at my crib and then off we went to pick up Ina. Then it was Arab Street to meet up with Hafiz and Aslam. We had a fantastic time. Definitely laughed hard. Too hard for that matter. Our jaws were numb at the end of the night. Sheesh!
Today's weather was just right. So perfect to stay in. I woke up, brushed my teeth, ate breakfast with my brother with MTV accompanying us. Once I was full and was settling in my seat, I took The Newpaper to read my weekly edition of Sexless In The City with Simone Heng. I always look forward to read that every Saturday. My girls & I felt that we are going through the same phase with her right now. Especially her article 2 weeks ago. It sort of kinda hit us like a big, red double decker SBS bus. That article was titled "Where's my Mr Perfect?"
It was about being tired finding "The ONE" and how every man we met has been nothing but wrong. She wrote about her girlfriend who got "dumped" by someone she dated in her office. That girlfriend called the writer and started wailing,
"I can't take it anymore. I am just so over this, one guy after another and I keep wondering when will he come along! Where is he? Do I not deserve to be happy? What did I ever do to deserve this?"
The writer also said how she's looking for love. But it's not that she's looking for a future husband. She's young (24)so that's not where she is heading. But she added that Mr Right Now would be nice. Better than one bad date after another. My girls & I would love a Mr Right Now too! She also wrote about how she too had an outburst of her own. The guy she was dating ditch her at the very last minute. He left a text message. Text message! Can you believe it? Not even a phone call.
She wrote;
"I got a text message, not even a phone call, in the cab and found myself calling a friend of mine crying with mascara and fake eyelashes running down my cheek. It wasn't that I really liked him, we had just started going on a few dates but it was a feeling of exhaustion, an accumulated grief of all the bad dates and all the bad guys."
That particular paragraph hit me real hard. It was exactly how I was feeling. She nailed it.
"There are good men out there, I'm sure, but knowing that I've reached my limit isn't great. I've taken my heart off my sleeve and replaced it with a "keep out" sign."
On today's article, she wrote about her dating this one amazing guy right now. Well, I hope she'll get her happy ending. As for my girls & I, we'll just have to wait and see. If it meant to happen, it will.
